NuVo’s Grand Concerto and Life|ware Make an Even Greater Connection
August 31, 2007, Hebron, KY – NuVo Technologies and Life|ware are pleased to announce that NuVo’s Grand Concerto is now a Life|ware Connected multi-room audio system. And through the companies’ mutual collaboration, they have been able to produce a unique innovation that provides users of both Grand Concerto and Life|ware’s digital home entertainment and automation system even greater convenience and usability throughout the home.
Nuvo has created a new Application Programming Interface (API) that when combined with Life|ware software enables the Grand Concerto to natively support Windows Media Center as an intelligent source with transport and media browsing capabilities. Additionally, through a new technology called Life|control, Grand Concerto can be dynamically connected to Life|ware control features.
Grand Concerto’s Control Pad becomes the first third-party Life|control point able to express a Life|ware menu through dynamic text. When an installer configures a Life|ware system and creates a menu, that menu can now be made available not only on Media Centers and Life|ware’s Life|point panels, but on text-based NuVo Control Pads as well.
“Most control systems take control of the functionality of multi-room audio systems, replacing their keypads with advanced touch screens,” said Mike Seamons, Vice President of Marketing for Life|ware. “While this feature is available in a NuVo-Life|ware solution, this is the first time an audio control pad has been empowered to be an automation control point. We’re thrilled to have developed this user- and installer-friendly innovation with NuVo.”
The companies expect that common scenarios for this new functionality will involve activating Life|scenes like “GoodNight”, “DinnerTime”, and “WakeUp” from a NuVo Control Pad.
“With our Control Pads, it will now be just as easy to activate entire home ‘scenes’ as it is to pause the music or adjust the volume on our Grand Concerto system,” said David Rodarte, President and Chief Operating Officer of NuVo Technologies. “This is the first of many innovations we hope to introduce to the marketplace over the coming months and years, both through our product development as well as through solid partnerships like the one we enjoy with Life|ware.”
