KUSTOM UNVEILS INNOVATIVE NEW PRODUCT LINE AND WEBSITE AT 2002 CES IN LAS VEGAS

JANUARY 7, 2002, CINCINNATI, OH - Kustom Home Sound, the respected designer and manufacturer of automated home audio distribution products, will announce substantial new developments at CES, including a new brand name, innovative new products and an interactive website for end-users and installers.

To reflect these dramatic new changes in the company’s product line, Kustom Home Sound products will now feature the NUVO brand name. According to Kustom representatives, changing the name to NUVO represented an ideal way to tell the industry to expect revolutionary new ideas and breakthrough products from Kustom.

“Our new products, and those around the bend, represent a real leap forward for Kustom,” said Jack Hanser, CEO and Chairman of Kustom Inc. “We want our customers and the industry to sense this new energy. The NUVO name and its related marketing helps us convey this excitement in the marketplace.”

Bringing revolutionary features and flexibility to the world of distributed audio systems, the first new product bearing the NUVO name is the 3-IN-1 AM/FM Tuner. Three independent AM/FM tuners are offered in one convenient and affordable package, allowing three independent radio stations to be simultaneously enjoyed in multiple areas of a home.

Each tuner in the NUVO 3-IN-1 (NV-T3) has its own unique IR code to provide complete control from the convenient, hand-held remote control (NV-RC1). It’s simple to choose preset stations, adjust volume levels, switch from AM to FM, mute a specific tuner and more - all with one NUVO remote control. Even if the user isn’t in visual range of the tuner, such as in another room, it is still easy to control its functions when used as part of a multi-room system. For example, the RC1 features separate command buttons to turn each tuner ON or OFF and to select AM or FM bands - no guess work is involved. The RC1 can also "teach" any Universal Learning Remote to control the NUVO 3-IN-1.

The three tuners each have an attractive LCD display to indicate selected stations. Twenty presets may be programmed in each tuner for a total of 60 favorite channels. The suggested retail price of the NUVO 3-IN-1 is $899.00.

Kustom also will introduce at CES the revolutionary new NUVO E Series multi-zone audio system. The NUVO E6M is a complete multi-source, multi-zone audio distribution system all in one convenient box. With six, 40-watt stereo power amplifiers, the E6M can deliver high-quality audio from six sources to six zones throughout a home. Users can enjoy any audio source where and when they want it.

The E6M package includes six keypad wall controllers. The keypads let users select audio sources by simply pressing one of the six, back-lit, soft-touch buttons. The controllers may be used to increase or decrease volume levels, mute a zone or zones, or power down the entire system with a touch of the ALL OFF button. Each keypad controller is a single design made of molded material with backlit, soft-touch buttons for a smooth and elegant appearance. (Available in White, Ivory and Almond finishes.)

The NUVO E6M features six, independent IR outputs for control of six audio sources usinga source equipment remote, the NUVO RC1, or any learning-type wireless remote. The keypad controllers contain sophisticated IR receivers that are compatible with most brand-specific and universal remotes.

For installations requiring additional zones, the NUVO E6X expander may be used in tandem with the E6M to create a 12-zone audio distribution system - and it’s as simple as connecting two cables between the units. For a better-looking installation, the NUVO E-Z PORT System allows complex wiring from all zones to be reduced to a single CAT-5 cable - a feature not found on similar systems.

The NUVO E6M Series package contains one E6M distribution amplifier; six keypad controllers; one RC1 remote controller; four IR Emitters; and one NUVO E-Z Port. Installers will be able to purchase this six-source, six-zone system at a cost of less than $200 per zone.

In addition to a product showroom, a dealer search function for both U.S. and international customers, and informative news areas,the site also features a guided audio/video demonstration of the company’s classic Kustom 6640 and 6440 home audio distribution systems. This audio/video demonstration shows prospects how a whole house audio system works, and the enjoyment and flexibility it can bring to their lives.

Registered professionals may visit the Pro Zone, an area dedicated exclusively to providing fast, friendly information that will be useful to installers. In addition to product demonstrations, a featured installation and a Distributor Locator, the Pro Zone provides a Support Forum with answers for common questions and even a demonstration on how to crimp CAT-5 wiring.

According to Kustom, the new website will evolve and expand in the future, with plans already in place for additional phases.
