NUVO ENHANCES PRODUCT LINE WITH NEW D AMPLIFIER FROM PHILIPS SEMICONDUCTORS
September 6, 2003, CINCINNATI, OH - NuVo Technologies announces the revolutionary Generation D, a design protocol utilizing digital amplification for energy conservation, cool operation, and clear, precise sound. NuVo will initially use the design standard in the new eight-listening-zone, six-source, whole-house audio system, called Concerto™ . The protocol will also be used in the first-quarter 2004 production of NuVo’s well-respected EssentiaTM six-listening-zone, six-source system.
The Generation D protocol utilizes the D Amplifier by Philips Semiconductors that provides more robust power to all channels while decreasing power consumption by a minimum of 55% and dramatically reducing heat generation. The Generation D protocol also includes the following:
- An RS232-operational port that allows for real-time system control
- FR4 fiberglass printed circuit boards to reduce electromagnetic interference
- Gold-plated circuit board connectors that provide long-term reliability
- Smart infrared control allowing identical source equipment use for multiple inputs
- Rigorous pre-shipment testing-a 12-hour load-and-temperature cycling test with 36 on/off cycles to ensure 100% performance
- Key to the Generation D approach is the utilization of the D Amplifier IC by Philips.
The highly reliable D Amplifier reduces energy consumption, dramatically reduces heat, and delivers a stunningly clear sound. The D Amplifier is also speaker-friendly and provides soft compression when overloaded-a safeguard that prevents clipping damage to system speakers from potentially destructive high decibel-level play. The benefits of employing the D Amplifier are clear. David Rodarte, President of NuVo Technologies, emphasizes the value of the new protocol and digital amplifier: “We will once again offer a strong value to the market that incorporates leading-edge technology.”
Rutton Ruttonsha, Vice President BL Audio Solutions for Philips Semiconductors, matches his enthusiasm: “We are very pleased to see our D Amplifier utilized by NuVo Technologies in the home audio marketplace. Their concept of high quality centralized audio control is a goal that we share in our developments towards the connected home of the future.” NuVo Technologies, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, is an innovator in the engineering, manufacturing, and distribution of high-quality audio systems.
