NUVO TECHNOLOGIES’ FIRM COMMITMENT TO ENERGY CONSCIOUSNESS IS RECOGNIZED
Whole-home audio manufacturer receives the 2008 CEA TechHome Mark of Excellence Award for Best Environmentally Friendly Product, Service or Corporate Policy.
Hebron, KY – March 20, 2008 – NuVo Technologies received the Consumer Electronics Association’s (CEA) 2008 TechHome Mark of Excellence Award for Best Environmentally Friendly Product, Service, or Corporate Policy during a ceremony at last week’s ninth annual Spring Electronic House Expo (EHX) in Orlando, Fla. The award recognizes the significant commitment NuVo has made to energy efficiency and environmental consciousness.
“An ever-growing number of individuals, families and companies across the nation and around the world are trying their level best to lead greener lives, and NuVo is no exception,” said David Rodarte, President and Chief Operating Officer of NuVo Technologies. “We are pleased to receive this award and we are proud that our company and our products are part of this important movement to reduce energy consumption and contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment.”
NuVo’s recently introduced Essentia E6G is the world’s first whole-home audio system to earn the ENERGY STAR® from the U.S. government. The Essentia E6G delivers a major breakthrough in standby mode energy consumption for the whole-home audio category by consuming less than one watt of power in standby mode. The Essentia E6G’s amplifier and up to 14 associated Control Pads only use energy when it is absolutely needed; they shut down when not in use, while keeping “one eye open” to snap back into action when a button is pushed.
The Essentia E6G system also features energy-conscious OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) Control Pads. Unlike LCD displays, the attractive OLED displays do not require a backlight to function, thus drawing less power. Additionally, the Essentia E6G uses a pure digital power supply, which further reduces its environmental footprint and its use of numerous heavy metal compounds. The system also meets RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) requirements, which restrict use of six major harmful substances.
As a company, NuVo has undertaken numerous environmentally-friendly, green-thinking policies, including a new packaging policy that prohibits use of non-biodegradable material. NuVo also has expressed its intention to engineer many of its future products to meet the ENERGY STAR® requirements. For example, it intends to submit its new NV-T2SIR tuner, introduced at EHX, to the ENERGY STAR® process.
“This award is a true honor for us,” said Rick Kukulies, Chief Technology Officer at NuVo and engineer of NuVo’s ENERGY STAR® strategy. “The cool thing is that any manufacturer can take a lot of the environmentally-conscious steps that we have, and when they do, the world will be an even better place.”
CEA’s Mark of Excellence Awards honor industry leaders in custom electronics products, services and installations that are instrumental in changing the shape of the connected home. Each TechHome Mark of Excellence Awards category was judged by a panel comprised of systems integrators, manufacturers, trade press members and industry consultants.
