Can I control the NuVo system with a wireless remote control?
Yes, both the Essentia, and Simplese systems ship with the NuVo RC1 remote control. This allows wireless source selection, on/off, all off, and volume control for each zone. The real advantage of this remote is its abilit y to teach those same functions to a learning remote, so all of the functions of the NuVo system and your source equipment are controlled from a single remote control.
When I plug in the keypads nothing happens?
This may sound too simple, but the answer may be pressing the ON button on the keypad. When the keypad is plugged in, it does not automatically light up and begin playing audio. You must first physically turn it on. You must also make sure that the “power” button is pushed in on the front of the amplifier unit.
My keypad is lit, but nothing happens when I push the buttons.
Having two keypads with the same zone address causes this. Remember that each keypad in the system must have a unique DIPswitch setting.
Why does the controller in zone 1 control the speakers in zone 4?
Check the DIP settings on the keypads. The most common mistake is to look at the “ON” indicator on the DIP switch array and assume the first switch should be in the up position. The zone switch settings are based on a binary digital code and therefore the reference to “ON” is irrelevant. On the back of the keypad “1” refers to the switch in the down position, and "0" refers to the switch in the up position. If you are referring to the manual on pages 10 and 11, the gray portion of the graphic represents the switch position.
When I choose a source in one zone, all the other keypads jump to that same source.
Remember that the Essentia and Simplese systems have a source grouping function. This enables you to set up more than one zone to share the same source selection. This is intended for areas like a kitchen, breakfast nook, and dining room that are one living space and not defined by solid walls. Switches 7 on the back of the Essentia keypad and switch 8 on the simplese keypad control this function. If this switch is inadvertently set in the up position, you will experience all those keypads going to the same source.
Should I be able to hear a source over the speakers from a source playing in another room?
What you are experiencing is cross talk. This is caused when you are not using all the source inputs on the Essentia amplifier. The Essentia package comes with RCA shunts. These plug into the unused inputs in place of the RCA cables coming from a source. This will short the unused inputs and eliminate any chance of cross talk.
